This blog was started as part of renovating the cottage/cabin in 2011/12 and those posts are preserved on the listed pages.

There is a blog for our reunions at LemyreReunion.blogspot.com. It includes the Cabin Cookbook and a list of local lodgings.

To Do List

Please feel free to add and subtract from this list. I'm simply taking notes so we don't forget some of the dozens of odds and ends we've discussed.

Reconstruction - Few enough items we can now list them!
-cut trim by cedar closet light switch and turn switch upside right
-paint trim in back bedroom
-fix/plane bedroom door so it closes properly
-fix protruding outlet box by front door
-fix/plane front door so it closes properly
-stain and urethane bunk (also cut outlet faceplate) - Dave Sr doing
-install short counter to right of stove - Dave Sr doing

-clean out utility room and store useable wood in crawlspace
-faceplate for open outlet in utility room
-install 20 amp outdoor plug by service box

Decorating - TBD
-Grovers are taking lead on living room and back bedroom.
-Lemyres are taking lead on bunk room and kitchen.

Yard Work - There's quite a bit of this to do. Items include but are not limited to:
-cut back bamboo and other overgrowth from perimeter of yard
-trim dead and grapevines from trees
-stack wood by fire pit
-trench out yard drain
-rake out yard where drain met stone fence so it is mowable
-fill in by basement window where ground settled from drain
-screen end cap for drainage pipe - Andy doing

Basement - The ground has already settled some where the drain passes out from the basement. As a result, water pools against the wall where it didn't previously. To complete the grading, an additional load of dirt needs to be spread and seeded along that wall.

Decks - Both decks need a good cleaning and resealing. Pressure washers have been tried without success (too weak?). May require scrubbing or decks need to be replaced. They are still structurally sound. Maybe in a year or two.
