This blog was started as part of renovating the cottage/cabin in 2011/12 and those posts are preserved on the listed pages.

There is a blog for our reunions at LemyreReunion.blogspot.com. It includes the Cabin Cookbook and a list of local lodgings.

2012 Renovation After Rehab

These are the posts about our renovation after Rehab Week (April 2012).

Beds Are In - posted 6/4/12
Things are looking pretty good! All the beds are in now. All the rooms are painted but still need trim paint done in living room and front bedroom.

Living room isn't set up yet (still need cushions for old sofa and chairs, bookcase ...). But there is a new couch in the living room!
New bunk bed fully assembled and has been slept on! We'll be putting a small night stand next to the door.
The built in bunk will be stained and urethaned, hopefully before the reunion. There will be a chest under the window.
The bed's in the back bedroom. It's got drawers under it! That's a new screen door too.
The trim still needs to be nailed down. Night stand or whatever not done yet. Coming along though!
The kitchen is pretty much fully stocked at this time. Planning on adding a couple non-stick saute pans.
There's some counter work around the stove that hasn't been done yet. Dave plans on taking care of that soon. Three weeks left!!!!

Back Bedroom - posted 5/1/12
Don't have a picture yet, but I understand Paul & Mary painted the back bedroom last weekend. Color is on walls, but trim yet to be done. Way to keep it moving!!

Getting Colorful - posted 4/24/12
Weekend of April 22nd, Jim, Andy, Beth, Paul & Mary kept things moving forward. Andy put in the thermostat, wired the stove, plumbed the sink and replaced the hose bib. Jim's quick with the caulk gun, spackle and brush! Mary and Beth worked with him to finish paint prep and get ceiling white on all four rooms. Paul helped us out and also rewired and serviced the house fan, sealed up holes in utility room and other misc items. We even managed to get the color coat done on the kitchen and bunk room!

The bunk room is a bright blue. If this was toned down, I can't imagine what "Grandma's Sweater" would have looked like! The wood on the bunk will be stained and urethaned.

The kitchen's green is so pale it's almost white. But it shows nicely against the counter. It keeps the kitchen feeling bright. Since Andy finished the plumbing, the kitchen is fully functional. The cabinets are still empty, but Beth and Winnie will be starting on that chore soon. (Anyone want to join us?)

The majority of the paint prep is done. There are still a few putty and spackle spots that need sanding and priming. But since all the ceilings are done, we can move things in. So we made one supply pile and cleared the rest of the house. Everything coming into the house needs to be cleaned as it comes in. This will be the best way to make sure we're not carrying the mildew spores back into the house. Please be thorough in your cleaning everybody!!

Once we have color coats on the living room and back bedroom, paint the trim in all four rooms, and finish the bunk, the construction phase will be complete! Then we'll be decorating! We've already got families stepping up to purchase some mattresses which is great, because we'll need 5 altogether.

Long story short, the cottage is now habitable. You can stay there again!

WOW! - posted 4/19/12

It's amazing what that many people can do in a short time! The cottage feels different. It's snug, cozy and clean. We're really getting excited about the finished product.
Demo weekend and Rehab week were a success! Check out the Demo and Rehab pages (tabs above) for more pictures.
