This blog was started as part of renovating the cottage/cabin in 2011/12 and those posts are preserved on the listed pages.

There is a blog for our reunions at LemyreReunion.blogspot.com. It includes the Cabin Cookbook and a list of local lodgings.

Guy Ski/Demo

Boy, those guys were moving!
The three windows (2 kitchen & front living room) went in ahead of time. So with the dumpster in place they started with the demolition of the walls. It went down to the studs and fortunately, the kitchen wall was not in as bad a shape as we had feared. The wall in the worst shape turned out to be the rear wall of the back bedroom. The abandoned chimney had caused some issues.

Once the walls were down the old wires were removed and new electric run to the new breaker panel. The inside of the (outside) clapboard was sprayed down with bleach to kill any mildew spores. Each bay of the outside wall was covered with Tyvek as a vapor barrier, then filled with insulation. The walls were then sealed with plastic as a second vapor barrier. Very well insulated!

Cousin Joe donated two more windows (spares) which were used to replace the two old ones on the back wall of the living room. Since they are thermal (not single pane) there's no need to shutter them. Boy did that open up the living room!!

And who accomplished these wonderous feats? In attendance were: Dave Sr, Andy, Jim, Dan, Doug, Paul and Joe. Thank you so much guys!!
