This blog was started as part of renovating the cottage/cabin in 2011/12 and those posts are preserved on the listed pages.

There is a blog for our reunions at LemyreReunion.blogspot.com. It includes the Cabin Cookbook and a list of local lodgings.

Rehab Week

TALK ABOUT YOUR CAST OF CHARACTERS!

Everybody who could manage was there at least part of the week for Rehab, and quite a few made the whole week! The days were long but exciting. Things were taking shape on a daily, even hourly basis. Sure was a hard working crowd! Here's who made it that week (hope I don't miss anybody!): Winnie, Dave Sr, Dottie, Dave Jr, Doug, Derek, Beth, Eric, Bruce, Ellen, Earl, Gloria, Paul, Mary, Matt & Laura.

Monday started with the GNH delivery. By the end of the day, the kitchen was sheetrocked and half the back bedroom.
Tuesday & Wednesday: Doug started on the new bunk alcove in the front bedroom (formerly the Fishing Pox), Eric started "mudding" (4 days & over 160 gallons, poor Eric!), Gloria was spackling, Matt started on the rotten back wall, Derek & Beth were rocking, Ellen, Earl & Gloria cleaned up the lilac bush and stone wall where the drain went through, Doug finished some more of the electrical work ... It kind of became a blur of activity, all on top of each other. :)

Of course you've got to take a little time along the way to enjoy yourself!

By Thursday we were sanding & priming in the kitchen and back bedroom. That's transformative! It looked less like a construction zone, and more like a house again. And the trim started going in. Ellen painted the new part of the back wall Matt had put in. Things were shaping up nicely!

Dave Jr & Derek put in the kitchen cabinets on Friday & Saturday. Doug finished up the bunk with Bruce and finished the electric (outside & ceiling lights included). Trim, spackle, putty, sand, prime, clean, .... lots of everything.

Sunday's plan was to clean up, pack up and leave. We were all pretty worn out. Then as we were discussing the countertops (not done yet), Dave Jr. said if we bought from stock we could put them in that day. What a surprise! So, that's what we did. Dottie & Beth cleaned up the old stove & fridge while Dave & Derek put in the countertops and sink (unplumbed).

We're hoping Andy can plumb the sink and wire the stove soon. Once that's done, we'll have a fully functional kitchen again!!
